Know Your Search-God is Within You

Know Your Search

When Jesus walked the earth traveling through Galilee, Judea, and beyond he preached, taught, healed, and performed miracles. Word about him spread quickly, and people went to great lengths to find him. Wherever he went, crowds followed, eager to witness his power and hear his words.

But that was when Jesus was physically present. After his ascension, he gave us the Holy Spirit, making his presence no longer bound to one location but with us always. He became omnipresent.

On Sundays, we gather at church to share testimonies, worship, and encourage one another. But that doesn’t mean God is confined to church walls no matter how grand or historic the building may be. He dwells within us.

As Christians, attending church and fellowshipping with others is important. However, in today’s world, many of us relocate for work or personal reasons, and sometimes, finding the right church can be challenging. When we struggle to find one, we may feel guilty, thinking we've disconnected from God.

But here’s the truth: searching for God in just one place within a physical church is not the way. God is within us. In 2 Corinthians 6:16 (NIV)"For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: 'I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.’”, we are reminded that we are the church. When we gather, it’s to strengthen and uplift each other in faith, not because God is only present there.

When we were searching for a good church in our new city, weeks went by without attending a physical Sunday service. As a homemaker, I felt uneasy about it—like I was missing something. But in that waiting period, the Lord asked me, Are you searching for me, or are you just searching for a church?

That question hit deep. My impatience revealed that I had unintentionally limited God’s presence to a church building. But the reality is, if I can experience His presence every day—just as deeply as I would on a Sunday—then I know that God is within me.

This realization made me reflect on how often our minds are shaped by old doctrines and traditions. So, I ask you:

Do you know your search?
