Stop Chasing and Know the Limit — When to Let Go and Step Back
| The Red Sea incident |
In Exodus 14, we read one of the most dramatic moments in Scripture where Israel stepping into freedom, and Egypt’s power was brought to nothing in a single night. Let me take you to this very incident in short…
Pharaoh sent his army of chariots to hunt down the Israelites after they fled Egypt. The people were caught between the Red Sea in front and Pharaoh’s soldiers behind.
Later Moses stretched out his staff just like God instructed, and the Red Sea divided 🏝️water stood like walls on both sides, and dry ground appeared in the middle. The Israelites crossed over in safety.
Pharaoh’s army followed, but once the people had crossed, Moses stretched his hand over the sea again. The waters rushed back into place, swallowing Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen. Not one survived.
Most of us read this as a story of deliverance. But if you look closer, there’s also a lesson in what not to do.
As I was praying, God showed me this scene in a different way: stop chasing. Stop chasing people, situations, and problems and learn to set the limits. If you cross the boundaries that's when we fall apart.
So this is what we have to do, learn when to give, when to pour out, when to chase and how far, and when to stop.
Because if Pharaoh would have realised sooner that it was time to let go of Israelite and if he had pulled back his chariots then he would have spared his skilled army’s and his kingdom wouldn’t have suffered such a devastating loss. Instead, he crossed the line, and the cost was everything.
The same happens to us. When we ignore our limits and refuse to respect our boundaries. That's when we put ourselves at trouble physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally. Sometimes the greatest wisdom is not in pushing harder to be present or solving things out, but in knowing when to stop.
Hope this connects with you.
And if you’re trying to get closer to God — don’t make it a big formula.💱➕➖➗🟰♾️
Just open your Bible, take your time with it, and let it talk to you.
It’s usually in those quiet, personal moments that He says the most.
